Curriculum

Arts & Letters!!

In Module 3 of Arts & Letters, students in grades 2–5 are building strong reading, writing, and thinking skills by exploring meaningful texts and sharing their ideas about what they read.
Throughout the module, students:
  • Read engaging stories and informational texts
  • Talk about characters, ideas, and important details
  • Practice using evidence from the text to explain their thinking
  • Learn new vocabulary and strengthen reading comprehension
Across the three units, students grow more confident in:
  • Understanding grade-level texts
  • Sharing ideas during class discussions
  • Writing clear responses about what they read
By the end of Module 3, students are better prepared to think critically, express their ideas clearly, and connect what they read to the world around them. These skills help set the foundation for future learning across all subjects.

To keep the learning going beyond the classroom, here are some grade-level tips for families to support and extend learning at home:

2nd Grade Chicks Hatched
Our chicks have officially hatched in our second grade classrooms—such an exciting experience for our students!  Our third graders have also been making great connections across subjects. As part of their ELA unit, they read about the artist Jackson Pollock, created their own paintings inspired by his work, and wrote about how their artwork connects to his unique style.

Garden Team
Our garden team has been hard at work in the mornings getting our beds ready for spring planting! So far, we have planted radishes, carrots, and lettuce, and in the next few weeks we will be adding sweet potatoes for the summer. We are currently in need of additional soil to help fill our raised beds. If you are able to donate, we would greatly appreciate it—please reach out to Mrs. Charlton for more information!

Positivity Project (P2) - Spiral Review Week

Dear Families,

This week, we will our P2 Review Week, where we will revisit and highlight important character strengths that help our students grow both academically and personally. Throughout the week, we will focus on Fairness, Humor, Perseverance, Other People Mindset (OPM – Identify the Good), and Self-Control.

Teachers will re-explore these character strengths with students, helping them make meaningful connections to how these traits can be demonstrated in their everyday lives. Students will also engage in Project-Based Learning (PBL) activities designed to reinforce and apply these strengths in real-world situations.
We look forward to a week of reflection, growth, and celebration of the positive character our students show each day!
